19 February 2015 – With regional governments in Latin America increasing investment and many organisations planning to introduce prepaid card programmes, leading government, retail, transport and corporate executives, bankers, merchants, payments and prepaid card specialists will meet at this intimate gathering to discuss the exciting prospects and opportunities at the first Prepaid Workshop, Latin America’s largest dedicated prepaid event, in Mexico City on 23 March.
The event, which is co-located with the successful and established Mobile Money and Digital Payments America conference and with Transport Ticketing Americas, will focus on the role of prepaid and payments across the sectors and how to optimise the use of the channel in cross-industry verticals throughout the Latin America prepaid market.
Led by the Prepaid International Forum, the packed agenda will cover a diverse and comprehensive range of topical issues central to the market, offering valuable advice, information and insight. Coupled with panel discussions and showcasing strong case studies, there will be plenty for delegates to learn, debate and network.
Robert Courtneidge, Global Head of Cards & Payments, Locke Lord will open the event with an overview of the prepaid opportunity with the Latin America and Caribbean regions.
Other topics for discussion will include a focus on deconstructing the role of prepaid payments in the future of advanced payments, presented by the Prepaid International Forum; a case study from MercadoLibra on introducing a prepaid product to empower the un- and under-banked; and what can be learnt from deployments across developed and emerging markets, with the Centre of Latin American Monetary Studies.
Zehra Chudry, Head of Content for Prepaid Americas, commented: “Prepaid is a vital area of development for government and commercial organisations in Latin America. The knowledge that will be shared at the workshop is likely to lead to major changes in the way people in Latin American countries pay for goods and services every day. We aim to equip delegates with the knowledge to enable them to deploy and evolve prepaid programme strategies across their sectors and we are looking forward to exciting discussion and debate.”
Prepaid Americas, which is being held in partnership with the Prepaid International Forum, takes place on 23 March 2015 at the Marquis Reforma, Mexico City, Mexico. Delegates will have the opportunity to attend Mobile Money & Digital Payments and Transport Ticketing Americas at the same venue, on 24-25 March.
Free entry is available to retailers, and there are discounted fees for some bank and mobile network executives, transport operators and Government authorities.
