London, 21 April 2023 – The Payments Innovation Forum, (PIF), the not-for-profit payments industry body, has announced the appointment of Jason Field, a Vice President with the Fintech team at Mastercard, as PIF Chair and Matt Sloan, Head of Business Development, EMEA at Discover Global Network as PIF Vice Chair in accordance with the association’s rotating governance model.
Jason takes over from outgoing PIF Chair Siobhan Moore, whose 3-month term has come to an end. Siobhan remains in her role as a non-executive Director of PIF.
Jason is a Vice President in the Fintech team at Mastercard for UK and Ireland where he is responsible for the account management of fintechs and other partners.
Matt is the Head of Business Development at Discover in EMEA where he manages their major acquirer and merchant relationships and focuses on building their issuing business and fintech partnerships.
Under the new model, the PIF Chair and Vice Chair rotate among PIF’s non-executive Directors every three months with the Vice Chair moving to the Chair role on rotation. Adopted in September 2022, the shared leadership approach allows PIF to tap into the knowledge, experience and expertise of the PIF Board in a way that better serves PIF’s diverse and growing community of members. It also enables PIF to fast-track key elements of its member-driven strategic plan.
Speaking about her tenure as PIF Chair, Siobhan Moore said:
“It has been a pleasure closely working with the PIF team over the past months. The support this Association provides to the payments industry is invaluable. I am delighted to be handing over the chairperson’s role to the very able Jason Field, who, together with vice chair Matt Sloan, will continue to work with the PIF team to deliver great services for its members.”
Commenting on the handover, PIF Executive Director Diane Brocklebank said:
“The past three months have clearly demonstrated the value of PIF’s innovative approach to governance which has allowed the company to accelerate key areas of its work. Under Siobhan and Jason’s guidance we have delivered on our promise to provide valuable insights into building business resilience and the fundamentals of launching a new product in today’s market.
It’s the commitment of Siobhan, Jason, Matt, and all other members of the PIF Board who lend their passion for payments that ensures PIF can offer the industry a vital ally. As we build on the momentum, we are thrilled to have Jason and Matt at the helm.”
